How to Get to Malaysia From Singapore for Less Than 180 Pesos

When going on a vacation in Singapore, it is a must to visit Malaysia for a day tour or an overnight stay since it will only cost you less than 180 pesos or $4 USD! Yes, you read that right. The fare to visit another country is very cheap and the cost to tour the country is not as expensive as you would expect.

How to Get to Malaysia from Singapore by Bus

A trip to Malaysia from Singapore starts in the Queen Street Bus Terminal which is close to Bugis MRT station. So to get there, just ride a train heading to Bugis and walk your way to the terminal. If you are having a hard time finding the terminal, don't worry as you can ask around for direction or just ride a taxi so you don't get lost.

Once you reach the terminal, look for the bright yellow bus and you should find a man in front of it with a table selling the tickets. He doesn't accept credit card payments but will take Singaporean or Malaysian dollar. As an alternative, you can also pay for your fare using your EZ link transit card.

The cost of the Causeway Express bus fare is only $3.30 Singaporean dollars which are approximately 155 pesos in the Philippines and a little over $3 USD. The trip will take 40 minutes to 2 hours depending on traffic.

As soon as the bus opens, you can now go inside (wait for your turn if there is a line) and show the driver your ticket or scan your EZ link card in the reader next to him. The bus will not leave until the bus is full but don't worry as it usually only takes some minutes for this.

*Please keep your ticket with you all the time even until after you leave the bus.

Arrival at Malaysia

As soon as you arrive in Malaysia, your bus will drop you off at Woodlands border crossing station. In this place, you will go through the Malaysian embassy to have your passport stamped. The lines are usually long especially during peak hours so we recommend heading to Malaysia after the morning rush.

As soon as your passport is stamped, you are free to explore Malaysia!  If you only plan to stay for a day then make sure you are back before 5 PM because the line can get really long during the afternoon peak hours.
