The new normal way to travel abroad after the outbreak |
So to help you make sure you are fully equipped and prepared on your next travel, here are some reminders:
1. Be fully equipped
It is important to have N95 masks (one per day), face shield, soap and alcohol with you all the time. The fastest way to get infected is when the virus gets access to your eyes and mouth so keep those protected all the time. Use your alcohol as often as you can especially before eating and wash your hands for 30 seconds whenever possible.
2. Choose your hotel wisely or bring your own UV cleaner
Gone are the days where we choose the cheapest hotel for accomodations as we have to be sure your room is properly cleaned so as to not expose all your belongings to the virus. You can also just invest in a compact UV cleaner and treat your room before you enter it. UV cleaner costs 5,000 pesos and up ($100) and will clean almost every surface touched by its light for a very short amount of time.
3. Always bring an extra bag or luggage on shopping days
When you go shopping, always bring an extra bag or a luggage where you will place all the items you bought. If any of it has the virus, it should die in 3 days or less depending on the material. Don't mix it with any of your things to minimize contamination.
4. Take a bath and change your clothes everyday
Many of us who loves to travel use our jackets for several days before we have it cleaned. With the outbreak, its better to be sure and to not re-use any of our clothes after one day. And after using it, place it on a separate laundry bag so it doesn't touch any of your things in the luggage.
5. Take off your shoes before you enter your room.
According to news, the virus can leave up for a longer time under your shoes. So just to be sure, remove your shoes before entering the room and place it in a secured area. When wearing it again in the morning, you can spray it with alcohol before wearing it again.
6. Bring your own utensils
If you want to be extra careful like us, we also decided to bring our own utensils when eating on a restaurant, especially in small eateries. You can bring disposable ones but if you also care for the environment - its best to use reusables and just clean it afterwards.
7. Disinfect your luggage, chair, table, flight seat, etc
Upon your arrival to your destination or home country, make sure you disinfect your luggage, top to bottom, and all chairs, tables, object you will hold or come in contact with. You can use alcohol, wet wipes or bring your own diluted bleach to spray on your luggage.
8. Social distancing
And the most important reminder is to keep your distance to everyone. Avoid crowded places, even if you have to cancel visiting an attraction because of the unexpected crowd.
